A video ive put together using some fantastic footage from the 1960s where ive tried to show the current day scenes of the original film of the cuckoo line. A steam hauled journey in 1962 from tonbridge in kent via both stations in tunbridge wells and on to eridge then over the cuckoo line to polegate on a train bound for eastbourne. We have been toying with the idea of investigating the cuckoo line eridge to polegate east sussex for quite a while now because we have nearly exhausted most of the railways around brighton and must now start looking a little further afield for our industrial architecture kicks. The cuckoo line is an informal name for the now defunct railway service which linked polegate and eridge 10 in east sussex england from 1880 to 1968 it was nicknamed the cuckoo line by drivers from a tradition observed at the annual fair at heathfield a station on the route
